Antique of the Month - An early 20th Century Seth Thomas Wall Clock
This month’s Antique of the Month from the Historic Johanna Brotch House is a wall clock from the early 20thCentury. Made by the Seth Thomas company, it features wooded scrollwork and is inlaid with different types of wood. Seth Thomas is a famous American clockmaker. According to Wikipedia, he was born 10 years after the Revolutionary War. Mr. Thomas lived in Connecticut and his clock company became nationally famous. After his death his son took over the business and it is likely under his son’s leadership that this clock was made, though its exact date of manufacture is unknown. The Seth Thomas Clock Company went out of business in 2009.This clock still works and is a real beauty! Enjoy the photos!
